These freedom wristbands are the symbol of the Tibetan freedom fighters, the Tibetan heroes, who continue to fight for their freedom; they wear the CHU-MIHK GHU-DEH wristbands (CHU = water, MIHK = eyes, GHU = nine, DEH = knots) to recognize each other. They were originally used as a protection against evil spirits, nowadays they are said to cure, equalize our life energy and bring good luck.
As a traditional symbol of freedom these popular Project Aware wristbands stand for everyone who knows the importance of freedom and is against torture and oppression. The Chu-mihk ghu-deh is of course a must for everybody who is 'Aware'.
The freedom wristbands are sold as a pair. According to tradition you should proudly wear one and give the other one to someone special while you both take a moment to think about: what does freedom mean for me...
All Project Aware's freedom wristsbands are handmade by a Tibetan nun.
