Project Aware collects support through digital signatures, which are represented by e-mail addresses. It communicates this through the counter. This counter is communicated to the world as a motivational means. Project Aware does not ask for money.
The counter was developed due to the organisation's need to make success measurable. Awareness is difficult to measure; it is a phenomenon with many variables. What makes someone Aware? When this person gives development aid or eats biological food? Perhaps; at the least those are forms of Awareness. You are aware of your actions and their results and take these into consideration. Perhaps that's the synonym of Awareness: having consideration for others.
However, Project Aware's definition of Awareness has been brought back to voting for freedom by placing a digital signature. For People these days this signature system is comparable to petition; the signing is fast, easy, free of charge, unlimited and without obligations. By inputting your e-mail address and confirming the following e-mail you make the counter rise by one. The database is a reflection of the number of supporters.
