Project Aware's main objective is to start a process of Awareness with as many people as possible. By now Project Aware is widely known amongst various groups of people. Several activities and events have successfully contributed to this.

- The first awareness – counter: 2 (November 2002) Initiators Atreya and Jeroen make their journey through Nepal and Northern India. At the Nepalese border they meet a group of Tibetan refugees who introduce them to the Tibetan culture. The two hear stories about the abominable conditions in which the Tibetan people live since the Chinese take-over of 1949. This experience changes them and makes them Aware. Back in the Netherlands they want to inspire people and make them aware of the oppression of the Tibetans. Project Aware is born.

Luckily, marketing and communications consulting agency Pleon offers Project Aware accommodation in their office.
